Chapter 1 - Setting Objectives

Recommendations for setting objectives
1. Learning objectives should be specific but flexible
2. Allow students to personalize the learning objectives
3. Make students and parents aware of learning objectives
4. Contract with students to attain specific learning objectives
  • When students are able to set goals, motivation is higher than when they pursue teacher-set goals (Hom & Murphy 1983).
  • Technology provides organizational and communication tools that make it easier to clarify learning objectives.

Types of technology that students can use to set objectives

  • KWHL Chart
    • K - record what you know about a topic

      • Goal Setting Template

3. Data Collection Tools

4. Web Resources
